She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Betty Sue Armstrong.
She was survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Winnie McBride of Denver, Colorado; and her sister, Joan Buhr of Port Ludlow, Washington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flora's greatest joy was her family, and her storytelling was proof of the love and pride she felt for them. Flora enjoyed a successful 40-year career in the mortgage banking business. She contributed to the industry through her many outside activities. She was a charter member, and the first Oklahoman, named to the Lender Administration Advisory Committee for the Southwestern Regional Office of the Federal National Mortgage Association. She served as a director for the Association of Professional Mortgage Women. She served as president of the Oklahoma City Mortgage Servicing Forum, and she was selected as the "Woman of the Year" by the American Business Women's Association. In 1990 Flora retired from American Mortgage and Investment Company as Vice President of the Loan Administration Department. Flora was a dedicated volunteer for the Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was a life-time United Methodist and a devoted member in her church. Flora has been an inspiration to her family and friends, especially in her later years as she dealt with the loss of her eyesight.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church.
