A funeral service was conducted Monday in the Walter E. Baird and Sons Funeral Home, Wayland, for William C. Bower, 57, of Cohocton who with his wife, Ida, operated the White Deer Motel and Bill and Ida's Little Doe Restaurant there.

Mr. Bower died Friday (Nov. 18, 1983) in the Bath Veterans Hospital following a long illness.

A native of Walworth, he had lived in Cohocton for the past seven years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the military service in 1966.

He was a member of the Hamlin VFW Post and the Wayland, Cohocton and Bergen American Legion Posts. He was a member of the Shilo Primitive Baptist Church in Cool Ridge, W. Va.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, William of Lakeville, Pa., and Gordon and William of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; four step-daughters, Julie Ferguson and Joyce Hammond of Ohio, Shirley Tribble of Cohocton and Carolyn Haggard of Michigan; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Burial with full military honors was in Maple View Cemetery, Cohocton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cohocton Fire Department and Ambulance Service. (Genesee County Express, November 24, 1983, p14)
