Higgins Lake resident James H. Binder, 69, died April 6, 2004, at the Grayling Nursing Centre. Private family services were held at the Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon.

Mr. Binder was born in Detroit, July 3, 1934, the son of James Mills and Bernice Mary Rich. His parents divorced in 1935.

He was married to Andrea (Ann) Jaworski, Dec. 13, 1986, in Troy. He had resided in Southfield and Birmingham prior to moving to Roscommon eight years ago. He was a retired postal carrier working in Birmingham and Troy Post Offices for 30 years.

He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #9222, Berkley; American Legion Berkley Post 374 and Birmingham-Troy Post 14 where he was past commander and the Houghton Lake Eagles Club. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Other than his wife he is survived by five children, Linda Nelsen of West Bloomfield, David (Karen) Binder of Warren, Debbie (Rick) Weiss, of Novi, Cindy (Tony) Dandar of Rochester Hills and Rob (Kim) Kennedy of Harrisville, 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother Alan (Alice) Binder. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Chris.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
