V. Charles Ancona, 80s retired physician

Dr. V. Charles Ancona, a longtime New Rochelle resident died Thursday, February 13, 1997, at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester in New Rochelle. He was 80.


Dr. Ancona was a former director of medicine at St. Clares Hospital in New York City. He practiced internal medicine in New York City for more than 55 years before retiring in 1995.


He was a parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in New Rochelle and a member of the Tertiary Order of St Francis.


He was born March 1, 1916, to Charles and Rose Doddato Ancona in New York City, where he was raised. He graduated from St. Regis High School, Fordham University and the New York College of Medicine.


In 1943, he married Irma Paterson at St. Ignatius Church in New York City. They settled in New Rochelle in 1946. In addition to his wife of New Rochelle, Dr. Ancona is survived by a son, Peter of McLean, Va; a; daughter, Terry Orueta of Bilbao, Spain; a sister, Aim Mulligan of Manassas, Va; and six grandchildren.


Visitation will be tomorrow at George T. Davis Funeral Homes Inc. in New Rochelle. A funeral will be at 1030 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sound Shore Medical Center, 16 Guion Place, New Rochelle, N.Y.
