Alice was the wife of Walter Raymond Merritt and mother
of five children. Alice was the daughter of Albert "Bert"
and Minnie Etta (Groves) Richwine, and sister of
Goldie McCloud.
Alice's maternal grandparents were Ervin Z. and
Amanda Alice (Johnson) Groves. Both are buried in the
Mound Cemetery, Perryville, Vermillion Co. Indiana.
Paternal grandparent were William Dallas and Elizaberh (Miller) Richwine. Both buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Brownsburg, Hendricks Co., Indiana.

Mrs. Alice Merritt of Pittsboro died early Monday morning in Witham Hospital following surgery. She was 42 years of age, and the daughter of Richard Richwine. She had been ill three weeks.

A member of the Bethesda Baptist Church, she had frequently attended the Methodist Church with her children.

Funeral services were yesterday afternoon from the Gregory Funeral Home.

Survivors are the husband, Walter; two daughters, Etta Mae and Linda; two sons, William and David; the father and a sister, Goldie McCloud, of Ladoga.

Note: The obituary omitted Alice's oldest daughter, Helen.
Helen was and is still very much alive. Alice's father was
Albert, well known as "Bert".
