James A. “Jimmy” Anderson, 79, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Duxbury and Pembroke, passed away on September 23, 2015. Son of the late Carl and Doris (Millbury), Jim is survived by son, Phillip and daughter, Jane. Jim retired from the Pembroke Police department in 1970 and began working as a full-time horse trainer. He was well known in the Morgan Horse world as well as his home town of Pembroke, where he grew up.
Jim grew up showing cattle and being involved in 4-H until he found his true passion with Morgan show horses.He and his former wife, Ann Anderson, successfully operated Hobby Knoll Stables in Duxbury, where they raised and trained Morgan horses on a national level for many years. Jim was a 1954 graduate of Pembroke High School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to: Plymouth County 4-H, 44 Obery Street, Plymouth, MA 02360
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 7th, from 3:00 to 7:00PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 7 Mattakeesett St. Pembroke. A service will follow at 7:00PM.
