Mrs. John Doswell

George W. Doswell, of this city, received a telegram last evening announcing the death of his mother, Mrs. John Doswell, one of the old and esteemed residents of Fort Wayne, at Almond, Wis., where she had gone to visit a sister. Mrs. Doswell had been in poor health for some time, but her death at the present time was entirely unexpected and was a great shock to her family. Accompanied by her son, Harry J. Doswell, who is the present superintendent of the cemetery, she went to Wisconsin to see if the change would benefit her failing strength.

Mrs. Doswell was born in England in 1825, and spent her early years there. When she was 27 years old, she came to this country and settled in Madison, Indiana. After living there for several years, she moved to Almond, Wis., where she was united in marriage to John Doswell. In 1860, the couple came to this city and as the Lindenwood cemetery was just being opened up, Mr. Doswell accepted the position of superintendent. He served in this capacity until the time of death, which took place about two years ago.

The surviving relatives of Mrs. Doswell are her sister in Wisconsin, four sons and three daughters: George W., Alfred E., Harry J., and Arthur C. Doswell, Mrs. J.H. Houck, Mrs. W.H. Brady, and Mrs. Israel Adams, all of this city.

The remains will be brought to this city for burial and will arrive here this evening.
