Elaine served as a military wife for 23 years traveling the world and raising 3 daughters, but continued with her love of nursing until fully retiring in 1995. Elaine specialized in acute care and hospice nursing and took great pride in providing service to others. She especially enjoyed her time serving as a county health nurse in both California and Oregon. Through her own experience of providing care for her mother who also struggled with Alzheimer's Elaine established one of the first respite care sites in Oregon for caregivers of family members with Alzheimer's. Upon retiring Elaine spent the next 20 winters in Arizona and summers in Oregon. In her words the two best places in the world.
