John Daniel Bateman was the 1st son and the 1st child of James Jefferson Bateman and Sarah Ann Barber Bateman. He married Laura Ada Woolley Bateman, the 2nd daughter and the 4th child of Hugh James Monroe Woolley and Caroline Lankford Woolley, on Feb 1, 1883 in Rusk Co., TX. They had 6 sons and 6 daughters. John Daniel and Laura Ada were my paternal great grandparents.

J. D. BATEMAN, DIED.
On the eve of going to press with the paper this Wednesday afternoon. It was learned that J. D. Bateman, prominent citizen of Edgewood, died at the family home at an early hour Wednesday morning after a long illness. His untimely death will be deplored by many friends throughout the county. The deceased was the father of Mrs. M. S. Derrick of Wills Point, who was at the family home when her father passed away.
