Jacob Benz, 77, Taken by Death at Grandview

Grandview. Jacob William Benz, 77, died at 11:30 p. m., Friday at his home here after an illness of six years with a complication of ailments due to advanced age.
He was born in Muscatine on Dec. 14, 1866, the son of Mathias and Lucy Schneider Benz. He had resided here for about 40 years. His marriage to Nettie Beik occurred on Feb. 18, 1904 in Louisa county. Mr. Benz was a member of the Grandview Community church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nola Asher, Grandview; one sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jeffries, Davenport. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Nelson, Anna Derby and Zulla Hintermaster, and one brother, Albert Benz.
The body is at the home here and funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m., Tuesday at the Grandview Community church by the Rev. Caleb Larson, pastor. Interment will be in the Grandview cemetery under the direction of the Hoffman Funeral home of Muscatine.

Grandview. Jacob William Benz, 77, died at 11:30 p. m., Friday at his home here after an illness of six years with a complication of ailments due to advanced age.
