Funeral services celebrating the life of John V. "Johnny" Higgins Sr. will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Victory Tabernacle Church in Sorrel. He will be laid to rest in the Victory Tabernacle Cemetery. Brother Jerry Arnold will conduct the services.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason P. Higgins, Caleb Higgins, Ashton Higgins, David McQuiston, Mike Picard Jr., Walter Picard, Calvin Higgins Jr., and Russell Picard Jr.

Johnny was a Franklin native and a 44 year resident of Sorrel. He was the owner of Johnny's Seafood Market in Sorrel where he was affectionately known by many as "Johnny the Fish Man." He passed away at the age of 63 on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Cheryl Picard Higgins; two sons, John V. Higgins Jr. and his wife Kelly, and Jason P. Higgins and his wife Keeley; two grandsons, Caleb Higgins and Ashton Higgins; his father, Jessie Higgins; five siblings, Ophema McQuiston and her husband Steve, Calvin Higgins and his wife Cindy, Trudy Chauvin and her husband David, Lola Olander and her husband Thomas, and Jessie Lee Higgins and his wife Mitsy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Kelley Higgins.
