Gineva Gonzales' step-father, Arthur Franklin, was in charge of building a bank in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Allen Lazarus 'Laz' Lester found employment on the construction crew of the bank. Meeting through this, Gineva and Laz were married in 1904. After Gineva was diagnosed with tuberculosis the family was advised that moving to a drier climate might help. They settled in Norton, New Mexico, but the change was not sufficient and Gineva died from the disease in 1909.
