In recent years Paul spent much time gardening, sharing his bountiful crops with family and friends. Paul was a good cook and made many family meals. He shared this gift with his church, and was known for his excellent bean and ham soup and goulash. He enjoyed reading western novels and watching westerns and old shows on TV.
