Shirley Wackerle, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Tuesday August 15, 2006.

Shirley was born, raised and graduated from High School in the Greater Kansas City Area.

She was married in Ottawa KS on September 8, 1946 to A.J. Wackerle until his death in 1994. Shirley was executive secretary to SD Lt. Governor Hansen until her retirement in 1984.

She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 628 Auxiliaries. She was also a member of the Mary Chilton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Augustana College Auxiliary, Botsford Family Historical Association and Brenner Heights Baptist Church.

Shirley is survived by Julie and Steve Peterson, Sioux Falls, Cindy and Jeff Kroon, and her grandchildren Karin Kroon and David Kroon of Hartford.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Fund, Mary Chilton Chapter.

A funeral service will be held August 18, 2006, at the Miller West Funeral Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
