Robert Lowell Coons, known by friends and family as Bob, age 87, of Garland, Texas passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014. He was born on July 20, 1927, in Macedonia, Iowa to the late James Ray and Nina Mildred Coons. Bob grew up on his family's farm in Iowa, but followed his sister to Los Angeles after graduating high school. Eventually he followed his brother to Texas where he settled in Dallas, becoming an accountant for the next 32 years for Interstate Theaters. He joined East Dallas Christian Church where he met and married his late wife of 54 years, Bobbie Bryan Coons. Bob and Bobbie later became active members in the First Christian Church of Plano and the Happy Days Group. Bob was a calm, loving, and caring man who was soft-spoken, but firm in his beliefs in his faith and family. He loved music, record collecting, football, had a passion for movies, and had a love for animals and children. He was known by those closest to him as the calm, voice of reason, true man of faith, great father, grandfather, and husband, and will be dearly missed by so many. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Bryan Coons. He is survived by his twin children Jim Coons of Frisco, Texas and Janet Coons of Euless, Texas and his "adopted daughter" Melanie Cartwright of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon, Dylan, and Eryn Coons of Keller, Texas; nephews Jim Wilhelm of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Bryan Easton of Macedonia, Iowa, and nieces Donna Easton of Macedonia, Iowa, and Deb Rodenburg of Glenwood, Iowa, and many other cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
