Mary Magdaline Van Hoose Elliott, 79, a resident of Annapolis for 16 years and a former resident of Glen Burnie, died of natural causes Dec. 11 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a five-month illness.

Mrs. Elliott was born and raised in Jacksboro, Texas, and was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

For 25 years she was employed as a stenographer at the Koppers Co. in Baltimore, retiring in 1982.

Her memberships include the Pythian Sisters of Honolulu, the Order of the Eastern Star and Asbury United Methodist Church of Arnold. She was an active volunteer at the Bellerive Senior Apartments in Annapolis.

Mrs. Elliott enjoyed crocheting, knitting and baking chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include two sons, ... of Philadelphia, Pa., and ... of Odenton; her daughter, ... of Chicago, Ill.; her brother, ... of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two sisters, ... of Kilgore, Texas, and ... of Shawnee, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road in Arnold. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn.
