CHARLES H. SR., Illustrious, 33rd degree, Funeral Director and Owner/Supervisor of the Rowland-Myers Funeral Home in the Tacony/Mayfair section of Philadelphia, born August 23, 1928 in Montoursville, Pa, died peacefully at home on Thurs. Feb. 16, 2012 with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Harvey and Ruth (nee Dunlap) and brother to the late Kenneth, Vernon & Beatrice.

He received his early education from South Williamsport High School and graduated from Eckels College of Mortuary Science and served his apprenticeship at the Petner Funeral Home. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. and was discharged as a Corporal. He and his family are members of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years and has served as Vice President of Church Council. He was a dedicated Mason for the past 39 years. He was raised a Master Mason in 1973 and was a Past Master of Richard Vaux Ivanhoe Lodge #384. He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge #506. He was an instructor and past Secretary of the Northeast School of Instruction. He received his Scottish Rite Degrees in the Valley of Philadelphia. He served as Thrice Potent Master of the Philadelphia Lodge of Perfection 14th degree and served as Most Wise Master of Kilwinning Chapter of Rose Croix, 18th degree. He was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33rd degree, on September 24, 1991. Past Commander-in-Chief of the Valley of Philadelphia, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Past President of the Bucks County Scottish Rite Club. Other affiliations include LuLu Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S., Northeast Shrine Club, Knights of The Red Cross of Constantine and former secretary of the Knights of Pythias. His civic activities include the Tacony Town Watch, Tacony Business Mens Association. He was a recipient of the Legion of Honor Award from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley L. (b. Oct. 16, 1928) of 61 years, son Charles H. Jr. , daughter Sandra Lee (Saba b. Dec. 30 1958), three grand-children and one great-grandchild. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service, Thursday, Feb. 23, 6-9 P.M. at St John's Lutheran Church, 3101 Tyson Ave., Phila., PA 19149. Masonic Service 7:30 P.M. Richard Vaux Ivanhoe Lodge #384, Jerusalem Lodge #506. Religious Service 8 P.M. Int. private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. John's Lutheran Church or Abington Memorial Hospice Care.*
