Grandson of Sander Leendertse Glen who was the founding father of this family coming from Scotland via Holland in 1633 in the employ of the Dutch West India Company. In 1658 Sander Leendertse built a mansion of stone on the north bank of the Mohawk and called his estate Scotia in honor or his native Scotland. Sander Senior was a man of great wealth owning land in Long Island, Albany and Schenectady. Sander senior had 3 sons, two of whom had children. Jacob Alexander, Alexander and Johannes Sander. Remember that Sander and Alexander are interchangeable. Grandson Sander's parents were Jacob Alexander and Catharina Witbeck. Sander married Rebecca Isaacse Swits on Dec. 18, 1714 in Albany, NY. They had at least 6 children.
