Mary's death certificate gives her birthdate as 22 April 1850. However, her older sister Margaret Ellen was born in January of that same year and was on the 1850 U.S. census. Mary first appeared in the 1860 U.S. census with a recorded age of 8. The enumeration date was 1 June 1850. The 1870 (enum. 1 June), 1900 (enum. 1 June), 1910 (enum. 15 April), 1920 (enum. 1 January), and 1930 (enum. 1 April) U.S. censuses give her age as 18, 47, 56, 67, and 77, respectively. I haven't found her in the 1880 census. The 1900 census records month and year of birth as April 1853. Her next sibling was born 2 February 1854, just a little over ten months later than 22 April 1853.
