Boyd Owen Leffler, 72, of Salem, died Tuesday, November 22, 1994 in Lewis Gale Hospital.

He retired in 1988 from the Salem VA Medical Center where he worked many years as a medical illustrator. He was also a well established artist, a devoted father who independently raised his children after the death of their mother, and also was a Merchant Marine during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn L. Leffler and a daughter, Cynthia Leffler.

Survivors include a son, Boyd Quintin Leffler, Salem; three daughters, Pamela Leffler, Salem, Beth L. Steele, Vinton, Ann and husband, Perry Terrell, Roanoke; six grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Leffler, Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Doris Purser, Blackfoot, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 1994 at 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem. Burial will fol low in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
