Obituary:

Fred Engle, age 78, of Wauseon, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Fulton County Heath Center in Wauseon. He was born on July 7, 1927, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of Fred & Belva (Bodkins) Engle. On December 22, 1950, in Sandyville, West Virginia he married Phoebe Carpenter and she survives.

Fred lived in Stoutsville, Ohio prior to moving to Wauseon in 2002. He retired from American Electric Power in Columbus in 1985 after thirty-five years of service. He was a woodcarver, gunsmith, avid hunter, and loved to fish. Fred served in the Coast Guard during WWII and in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Lockbourne Masonic Lodge and attended the Fayette Christian Church.

Fred is survived by his wife, two daughters and four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, as well as two sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two children in infancy; two sisters, Idabell Hill and Wilma Ferrrell and two brothers, Raymond and Calvin Engle.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayette Christian Church with Rev. Mary Jo Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery southeast of Fayette. There will be a visitation on Friday at the Eagle Funeral Home-Fayette Chapel from 4-8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.
