Vivian M. Grover, 109, went to be with the Lord December 21, 2020. She was born to Glen and Ella (Maetschke) Taylor February 20, 1911 in Dover, Minnesota.

Vivian grew up on a farm outside of Dover, Minnesota where she attended school and high school in St. Charles, Minnesota.

She met the man who would become her husband, Harry Grover, while visiting her brother in Rapid City. They were married November 30, 1931 in Sturgis, South Dakota. Together they worked a ranch and owned Grover's Store in Keystone, South Dakota. Vivian worked at Donaldson's department store in Rapid City for 12 years. She also worked in the Treasurer's office and retired as Chief Deputy Clerk of the magistrate court, which was a notable achievement that she was proud of because her formal education ended after two years of high school. She volunteered at Rapid City Regional Hospital in the gift shop and helped with the hospitals bulk mailing for several years. Her husband passed away in May 1987.

Vivian helped raise her husband's three children, and has 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 57 great-great grandchildren and 14 great-great-great grandchildren who were blessed to have shared her life.

Vivian was recognized for three years, 2018, 2019, and 2020 as Centenarian of the Year for South Dakota, being the oldest member of the Century Club. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Hospital Auxiliary, Canyon Lake Senior Center, Minneluzahan Senior Center and Keystone Senior Center. She went white water rafting in Colorado when she was 83, and hiked Harney Peak every year until she was 84 years old. She loved to travel, walking for exercise, playing cards, attending Church, putting puzzles together and knitting; making many afghans!

A memorial has been established to Fountain Springs Healthcare Center for the great care they took of her while she lived there.
