Margaret Brown Jones was born September 30, 1928 to the late Jack and Callena Brown in Canton Mississippi. She was the 10th of 14 children born to their union. She was educated in the Madison County Public School system and developed an early relationship with God, one that continued until her death.

Margaret met Willie Jones in 1945 and they soon married on February 16, 1946. Willie preceded her in death in 1983. Only two children were born to their union, Alice Ruth and Percy Lee; both of whom preceded her in death in 2003. Although she only had two biological children, Margaret raised several children with Willie until his death. She continued as a homemaker, cook, making quilts, and giving back to her community. Margaret joined and worshipped with Douglas Park Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Revs. Leon Davis and Thomas L. LaNier. She had a special way of touching the hearts of anyone who met her and was passionately referred to as "Grannie", "Nana", "Big Granny", or simply "Mama".

Margaret entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in the afternoon. Her parents, 12 siblings, 2 children, 4 foster children, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews are awaiting her on the other side.

Family left to cherish her include: Sister Marcella Dennis, Daughters LeDora and Carol, 1st Cousin Gussie Thompson, 18 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Godchildren Richard and Charon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

"I needed the quiet, no prison my bed; But a beautiful valley of blessings instead; A place to grow richer, in God's bosom to hide; I needed the quiet, so he drew me aside"
