DEREK ALAN JENSEN
Derek Alan Jensen, passed away on March 16th, 2015 in Reno, NV.

He was born in Ravenna, Ohio on Feb. 10, 1979 to Al and Joyce Jensen of Diamond, Ohio.

He graduated from Southeast High School in 1997 and moved with his family to Henderson, NV. He attended UNLV where he was red-shirted on their football team as a punter/kicker. He earned a B.S. and Masters degrees from UNLV in biochemistry. He completed class work and lab work at UNR for a PhD in biochemistry. Derek did extensive research on blood brain barriers in the hope of curing Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease. He presented his research in Chicago in March of 2014 and in New Orleans in May of that year. This research is in the process of being published in a medical journal later this year. Prior to his death, Derek worked as a biochemist for Hamilton Labs of Reno and Switzerland, specializing in HPLC columns.

He was proceeded in death by his father in 2008. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Jensen, of Henderson, NV.; his sister, Allison Jensen Neves, her husband, Tony, and their baby, Valentina, of Boston, MA.; as well as his grandmother, Edna Jensen, of Oak Harbor, OH. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on May 4th at 2:00 P.M. at the River of Life Church, 35 Hillview Dr. in Gallipolis, Ohio 45631
