One of the oldest members of the New York Stock Exchange.

Cahn started his financial career with Kuhn, Loeb & Co., and later with Speyer & Co. He founded the brokerage firm Cahn & Company in 1879.

In 1869, he was admitted to the Stock Exchange, paying $1,000 for his seat. At the time of his death, the seat was valued at about $70,000 (in 1904 dollars).

Died of typhoid fever.
