OBITUARY JAMES J. BATTISTI SR. (1/7/1891-7/8/1979)
James J. Battisti Sr. (aka Giovanni) 88 of 28 Hough Street, St. Johnsville, NY died Sunday afternoon July 8, 1979 in Little Falls Hospital. Born in Supino Province of Frosinone Italy January 7, 1891. He was son of Francisco and Lucidi Battisti; and brother to Pietro Battisti who married Wilhemina Colonna. James was married to the former Enrica/Secondina Orduini June 23, 1917 in St. Patricks Church. He was educated in Italy and came to the United States and St. Johnsville, NY in 1907. Prior to his retirement in 1967 he was employed as a foreman in the leather cutting department of the Little Falls Felt Shoe Company. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, a member of the Home Guard during World War I, and a member of the Little Falls Shoe Company’s 38 year club. Survivors in addition to his widow “Henrietta” Secondina Arduini-Battisti, are two sons Romeo Battisti, St. Johnsville, Judge James J. Battisti Jr. Catskill, NY, a daughter Mrs. Lydia Roberson, Wilmington, DE; a sister in Italy, seven grand children, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Buriel will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 AM from St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. William J. Schoots, Pastor as celebrant. Interrment will be in the St. Johnsville Cemetery. A prayer service will be conducted by Father Schoots Tuesday at 8:00 PM at the H.C. Smith Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, NY. Calling hours will be tonight from 7-9 o’clock.
