In 1851 he and his wife and their eight children lived on a farm in Indian Territory in Canada West (now Ontario).

In 1861 he, Hannah, their five youngest children, and granddaughter Elizabeth Simms lived on a farm in Derby Township, Grey County, ON.

In 1871 he and his wife and their youngest daughter lived there.

In 1881 he lived with his youngest daughter, her husband, their three children, and 13-year-old Archibald McNabb on probably the same farm.
