Grover was nicknamed "Short" and called "Toot-Tot" by his grandchildren, of who I am one. He was the son of Joseph Matthew and Sarah Emma (Rushing) Ford. He married Meldie Mae Fulgham on August 10, 1919 and they were married for the rest of his life. He was the father of Joseph Edwin, Doris Annette, and Evelyn Joyce.

He kept change in a cigar box, and would let the grandkids dip their hands in and grab some for the bubblegum machine in his country store. Whoever received a rare white gumball from the machine got to put their hand in the box for a bonus grab. Since I was barely three when he died, I don't have this as a personal recollection but read about it from my cousins in a family book. Toot-Tot was a member of Self Creek Baptist Church and was a Mason.

Thank you so much to Faith, Hope, Love & Peace ^i^ KGB for her generous sponsorship of Toot-Tot's memorial. If you have a moment, please leave flowers on her memorials.
