Stricken With Paralysis
Mrs. James Ewing was stricken with paralysis at her home in west Hopkins last Saturday and has been in a precarious condition since that time. While she is 87 years of age, up until this time she has been quite active, able to perform some of her household duties and to help care for her husband who is now 91 years of age and very feeble. The children are all here, death being expected at any moment. – Hopkins Journal

Wife of Captain Ewing Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke. —Had Lived in Hopkins Forty-Six Years
Mrs. James Ewing, the wife of Captain Ewing of Hopkins, died Wednesday afternoon at her home, her death resulting from a stroke of paralysis which she suffered last Saturday. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. R. Watts.
Mrs. Ewing was 80 years old. She was born Nov. 29, 1831 in Indiana. She was married to James Ewing February 8, at Napoleon, Indiana. They came to Hopkins to live in 1872 and have made their home at that place continuously since. Captain Ewing is 91 years old and is a veteran of both the Mexican and Civil wars. Mrs. Ewing is survived by eight children, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
