Eunice Ellis Absher Black, 83, of Terre Haute died at 3:48 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Union Hospital. She was a secretary for Ron Smith, a CPA, and St. Mark United Church of Christ. She was born April 20, 1917, in Moro, Ill., to Frank E. Ellis and Emily Green Ellis. Survivors include her husband, Perry Oscar Black, whom she married March 4, 1995; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis A. and Ronald G. Miller; two grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Thomas Jones; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a previous husband, Carl Absher, on Sept. 13, 1986; her parents; one sister, Florence Hunter; and one brother, Clifford Ellis. She was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ and the Woman’s Department Club, where she had for a longtime served as treasurer. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne G. McAllister officiating. Music is by Nancee South Falber. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park.
