William E. Dolan, 93, died Wednesday at a local convalescent hospital.

Mr. Dolan was born and raised in Connecticut and was employed for several years as a photographer. He came to California after his marriage in 1913 and was employed by Forman and Clarke. In 1917, he returned to Vermont where he lived for 11 years, working as a clothier. He returned to California for a short time, then moved to Maine, living there for 27 years. In Maine, he was a city tax collector for five years and also owned a tree farm. Upon retiring, he and his wife, came to Napa to be near their daughter.

While in Vermont, he served as a captain in the National Guard and was a 50-year member of the Keystone Lodge No. 80, AF&AM of Solon, Maine.

He is survived by his wife, Abbie; a daughters Shirley O’Hara, both of Napa; a son, Douglas of Bingham, Maine; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Maine and inurnment will be in the Solon Cemetery in Maine. Arrangements were under the direction of Richard Pierce Funeral Service.
