MRS. ANNA KUNZE

Friday evening after 11 o'clock Mrs. Anna Kunze passed away at her home on South State Street. Death was due to old age and the ailments usually incident to advancing years. She had been confined to her bed for 3 weeks.

The deceased whose maiden name was Anna Marschner was born in Penig, Kingdom of Saxony, Germany Feb. 2, 1841, and was therefore over 74 years when she died.

In 1862 she was married to Henry Carl Kunze who preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1892. Nine years later they emigrated to America and located first at Philadelphia, where they remained for 4 years. From there they came to Renville County and in 1879 to New Ulm where the deceased has resided ever since.

Of the three children born to them, two survive: Mrs. August Bentzin of this city and Henry Kunze of North Dakota. Another daughter, Mrs. Minnie Blanckert was a victim of the fire which swept over Hinckley in Sept., 1894. Mrs. Kunze is also survived by one brother, Bernhard Marschner of this city, and one step brother Reinhold Beyerlein of the state of Delaware.

At the time of her death she was a member of the Ladies Society of the New Ulm Turnverein and the Hector Circle.

The deceased was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a good neighbor and a staunch and true friend. She had more than her share of worldly troubles. For many years her husband was unable to work and it devolved upon her to furnish the support and maintenance of the family. She did this cheerfully and without a word of complaint. For over a year her son Henry had been forced to be away from home. Over this she has grieved a great deal.

The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Turner Hall, Albert Steinhauser officiating. Interment was made in the City Cemetery.
