Warren Keller passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, Nov. 9 at the age of 84.

A retired NASA engineer, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn B. Keller and three children; Susan (Bob) McDonald, Thomas (Debby Lee) Keller and Karen (Philip) Sterling and five grandchildren, Cory Sterling, Robert McDonald, Jr., Ashley Sterling, Michael McDonald and Jackson Keller.
Burial at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville.

Mr. Keller was preceded in death by his parents Ernest R.and Esther Keller, brothers Eugene, Ernest, Jr. (Ernie) and Fred Keller.

Mr. Keller began his career with NASA as a Engineering Physicist in Huntsville, Alabama in 1960 before moving to NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 1962. He served in several capacities over a 20 year period with two of the most notable being his leadership of gaining approval of the Voyager and Space Telescope missions and the Program Manager for the Hubble Space Telescope.

In 1981 he was named Director of the Suborbital Projects and Operations Directorate of NASA'S Wallops Flight Facility.

Mr. Keller received numerous awards in his 30 year career including NASA'S Outstanding Leadership Medal and a special American Astronautical Society Award for his contributions to the Voyager Mission. He also was the recipient of the Presidential Rank Award Meritorious Executive in the Senior Executive Service.

Born in Knoxville and a 1949 graduate of Knoxville High School, Mr. Keller received his B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Tennessee in 1953 and an M.S. in Physics in 1957. He held membership in several honorary societies.

Mr. Keller and his wife resided most recently at The Heritage in Brentwood and were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin.
