The Ogdensburg journal., February 07, 1911, Page 2:
Cranberry Lake, Feb. 4—The remains of Asa Allen were taken to Edwards Sunday for burial. Mr. Allen died at Silas Cook's hotel after a few days illness of pneumonia, age 76. Mr. Allen was an old soldier of the Civil war and leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss.

J.N. McLeod went to the Windfall last Saturday and brought the body of Asa Allen to Edwards for burial. The funeral was held at Fine in the M.E. Church, Rev. Stephen W. Fessenden officiating. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the Civil war and was nearly 75 years of age. He lived in this town some thirty years ago with his first wife and several children. He left here soon after the death of his first wife and married again. He is survived by his wife.

Asa's first wife was Mary Ann Moffit (1844-1880.) A notice in the St. Lawrence Plain Dealer dated March 17, 1880 stated that Mrs. Asa Allen had died the past Tuesday which would no doubt be March 16, 1880.

Asa's second wife was Rachel (1845-?)

His four children were:

Edwin Allen (1869-?)
Jennie Allen Cook (1871-?)
Olin Allen (1876-?)
