Mary Rodarte Jimenez, born June 23, 1920 as Maria de Jesus - Granado to the late Lazaro Reyes and Antonia Reyes - Granado was called to be with her Lord on August 18, 2006 after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Jimenez was born in McAllen, Texas. She and her family worked the fields picking cotton, pecans, tomatoes and potatoes all the way up to Idaho. She also worked as a plant assembly worker at Morgan Daniels Seafood Company in Port Lavaca, Texas and The Patio Restaurant in Victoria until her retirement in 1989.

Mrs. Jimenez is preceded in death by her first husband Ventura Rodarte (d. 1950) and husband Juan Jimenez (d. 1969), son Edward Luis Jimenez, sister Maria de Refugia Martinez, brothers Guadalupe, Daniel and Ramon Reyes, and grandsons Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Jr. (d. 1999) and Micheal Anthony Rodarte, Jr., and granddaughter Teresa Marie Jimenez (d. 1975).

Mrs. Jimenez is survived by daughters Mary Jane Jimenez - Chapman (Hoyt) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dora Linda Jimenez - Cardenas of Victoria; and sons John Manuel Rodarte of Victoria, Ventura "Ben" Rodarte (Linda) of Corpus Christi, Jose Alfredo Jimenez of San Antonio, Louis Edward Jimenez (Claire) of Fort Meyers, Florida, and Ruben Jimenez (Dalia) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and sister Maria de Guadalupe (Juan) of Monterrey, Mexico. She is also survived by twenty - one grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

Visitation and rosary were conducted Aug. 21 at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria. A funeral mass was celebrated Aug. 22 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. A Memorial service was held Aug. 26 at Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria, TX.
