The death of Dr. James M. Taylor occurred Friday afternoon, February 21, 1902, at his home on South Tenth street. Preparations were being made for an operation, which it was hoped would relieve him, when he commenced to sink and death came in a few hours.

Dr. James M. Taylor was born in Indiana, Pa., April 9, 1819 and spent his boyhood here. In 1842 he graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and began the practice of his profession in Indiana. In 1857 Dr. Taylor removed to Kittanning, having married Margaret Blair, daughter of the late Rev. David Blair in 1852, and there he enjoyed the most active practice of his profession, being held int he highest esteem for both his personal and professional qualities.

Returning to Indiana in 1874, Dr. Taylor had since lived a retired life. The survivors are his wife and three children, D. Blair Taylor and John S. Taylor, well known attorneys of Indiana, and Mrs. Charles M. St. Clair, of Latrobe.

James was named for President James Madison who during the war of 1812 had offered a lieutenancy to his father, John Taylor.
