Irene "Tootie" Alga Stokke May 13, 1923 - November 17, 2015 Irene "Tootie" Alga Stokke, age 92, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at Rock Haven. She was born in Beloit, on May 13, 1923, to Frank K. and Elizabeth M. (Somodi) Ross. A first generation American-Hungarian, she graduated from Beloit High School in 1941. Irene married John L. Stokke on July 14, 1944, at Army base Camp Crowder, MO. They moved to Janesville, in 1946. John preceded her in death on June 12, 1977. Irene was later married to Barton B. Reynolds for 10 years. She had been employed by Beloit High School, First Lutheran Church (in Janesville), and Parker Pen. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and was very involved in the community, including the First Senior Housing Corporation. Irene was a lifelong learner who loved to travel, read, and celebrated her time with family and friends. And, so, so much more. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives were touched by her love and presence.

Irene is survived by her three daughters: Mary Swander of Florida, Jane (Doug) Helmers of Janesville, and Sally (Floyd) Olson of Utah; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; a sister, Mary Loughead of Washington; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers: Frank, Julius and Andrew; and sisters: Pierre, Margaret, Elizabeth, Helen, Lillian, and Florence; and son-in-law, Paul Swander.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Rev. Naomi Garber officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the CHURCH. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family. Suggested memorials may be made in Irene's name to First Lutheran Church Foundation, Rotary Botanical Gardens, or Agrace Hospice Care.
