Hiram Ambrose Clayton was the son of Robert A. Clayton and Carrie Ophelia Stafford both natives of Livingston Parish, Louisiana.

Obituary-Baton Rouge Sunday Advocate, January 24, 1971-Clayton, Hiram A. Died at 10a.m. Saturday at his residence in Walker. He was 72 and a native of Livingston Parish. Body at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home, Denham Springs, until 9 a.m. Sunday. Religious services at the Heights Funeral Home, Houston, Tex. Monday. Burial in Resthaven Cemetery, Houston. Survived by two sons, Percy H. Clayton and Sidney R. Clayton; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Williams, Mrs. Duane Haley and Mrs. Yvonne Babbitt all of Houston; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
