Hood Brown served in the United States Army during World War I with the Forty-second Division. He died March 5, 1941, and is buried on the Sanders' lot in Sweetwater Cemetery.

Transcriber's note: there is also a military grave marker at Palava Cemetery in Fisher County for James H. Brown (see Palava grave marker with the same death date and same military information. Unknown at this time why Mr. Brown has two grave markers, but the family member who contributed the information for the Nolan County book clearly states that he is buried at Sweetwater Cemetery.
