Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 20, at the Baptist Church in Churdan for Dale D. Barnes.

The Rev Gregory Berkey officiated. Richard Carey was soloist, accompanied by Mrs Conrad Juergensen.

Honorary bearers were Earl White, Edward Meyer, Martin Wiederin, Robert Vogel, Dean Howard, Milton Hicks, Darrell Legore and Charles Paul.

Casket bearers were Merle Outtrim, Paul Toyne, Duane Dudley, Everett Hawn, Wayne Brody and Duane Towers. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

Dale Darwin Barnes, the son of Lester and Maude Peacock Barnes, was born May 9, 1911, in Churdan and passed away March 17 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, following a lengthy illness. He was 62 years, 10 months and 8 days of age.

He was united in marriage to Miss Pauline Kloss on Nov. 30, 1929, at Fort Dodge, and they had always made their home at Churdan.

To this union were born a daughter and a son, Darwin, who passed away in 1950, and Doris (Mrs. John W.) Carty of Winfield.

Dale was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Churdan, and served for many years on the city council, the school board and the board of the Farmers Cooperative Elevator.

He was instrumental in the creation of the athletic field in Churdan. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Dale made his livelihood by shelling corn and operating a local grain truck firm.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his son.

Survivors include his wife Pauline; his daughter . . .; and two grandchildren, . . . .
