Mr. Jerry Lee Beggs, 74, of Elberton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his home. A native of Elberton, he was the son of the late Robert E. Beggs, Jr. and the late Aurie Belle Dickerson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Beggs and David Beggs. Mr. Beggs was retired from Diamant Boart/Husqvarna, where he worked as a Technical Service Coordinator. He was a member of Forest Hill Assembly of God Church where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader as well as serving in many other positions. Mr. Beggs previously served his country in the National Guard, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 22nd at 3:00pm in the Forest Hill Assembly of God Church with the body lying in state at 2:00pm. Rev. Ann Reynolds will officiate and Kyle Scarborough, Dawson Scarborough Troy McCannon, Randy Lane, Ben Suttles, Marshall Beggs, David Sayer and will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Hicks Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of almost 51 years, Mary Ann Scarborough Beggs; son and daughter in law, Tim and Denise Beggs, Elberton; daughters and son in law, Rebecca Beggs, Elberton and Elizabeth and Tommy Bowen, Burlington, N.C.; grandchildren, Kayla Dove and her husband, Jake, Emily Beggs, Caleb Beggs, Christian Aponte, Brick Bowen and Brady Bowen; Sisters, Daisey Maddux, Martha Hammond, Patricia McBrayer, Jean Jewell and Susan Suttles, and many nieces and nephews.
