Parents of Son
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Braun are parents of a 4 pound and 4 ounce boy, born November 14 at 3:55 at the St. Joseph hospital in St. Charles. Mrs. Braun had a Caesarian operation and was able to leave the hospital Sunday. The baby will remain in the incubator for sometime. Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Holley are staying in the home caring for Mrs. Braun.

Mrs. Braun was formerly Miss Georgia Holley.

Paul was living in the 4500 block of Chouteau Avenue, and was working as a nurse's aid in a nursing home in St. Louis at the time of his death.

Paul was shot to death about 3:30 a.m. in an robbery attempt in an alley near his home. He left home about 2 a.m. (had recently gotten off work)to walk a roommate's dog in Forest Park. His roommate became concerned after Paul failed to return home and found his body in the alley. Paul was taken to Barnes Hospital where he was pronounced death on arrival.

Paul was cremated and the remains were entombed at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

A 16-year old boy was arrested in the death of Paul when police recovered the murder weapon and arrested the teenager while investigating a dispute between two rival groups of teenagers. The boy was charged under the juvenile code with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

When the case went to court, a mistrial was declared after a jury was unable to reach a verdict. Prosecutors reduced the charge to involuntary manslaughter in return for the plea and a 10-year sentence imposed. Paul's parents were not pleased with the plea agreement, because they had lost a son and the teenager had confessed to their son's murder.
