She is survived by her loving family; David (Wendy) Achatz, Patricia (Timothy) Keck, Steven Achatz, Susan (Robin) Mortinger, and son-in-law Harvey (Mary Ann) Brown. She was adored by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who liked nothing better than sitting on her lap in her rocking chair and teasing her about everything imaginable. They will miss her dearly.
She mourned the loss of her husband Vincent, daughters, Diane Achatz Brown and Barbara Achatz. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Katherine and brother Joseph Karash.
Irene will be remembered for her strong work ethic. Along with Miles she founded a catering business in 1963 that grew and blossomed into many family culinary businesses that still thrive today. She was extremely proud of these endeavors, but never hesitated to give advice where she thought it was needed.
Her children will be forever grateful to her granddaughter Renee Brown who became Irene's "bestie" in the last years of her life. Irene truly enjoyed the dinners Renee made, the trips they took to the grocery store and playing with Oscar the pug.
Funeral mass will be Tuesday November 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Clair.
