Son of Daniel and Hannah Dengler Bachman; married Alice Duffy in 1915

Death of William G Bachman, 74, retired general superintendent of Taylor Engineering and Manufacturing Corp, Allentown,and a native of Weatherly, occurred last night in St Anthony's Hospital, St Petersburg FL. Mr Bachman was spending his annual vacation in Florida and was stricken ill at his hotel Tuesday night and removed to the hospital. He was a resident of 1326 Chew St, Allentown. Born in Weatherly, 25 Jan 1883, he was a son of the late Daniel and Hannah Bachman. Mr Bachman went to Wilkes-Barre as a young boy with his parents. His wife, the former Alice J Duffy of Wilkes-Barre died in 1948. Mr Bachman was prominently identified with many civic and community affairs in Allentown and served as chairman for various annual campaigns. He was a member of Greenfield Lodge 561, F&AM; Lehigh Consistory and Rajah Temple, all of Allentown. Surviving are a sister, Mrs WL Bachman (sic - Bollman) of Shillington, and nieces and nephews, including Charles and James Kuhns, Mrs Frank Matzger, Mrs David Hughes and Mrs Edward Bahnmiller, all of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs Albert Greenwood of Kingston; Mrs Paul Dolan of Scranton and Mrs Edward Evans of Fairview Heights, Mountain Top. Funeral from Luther M Kniffen FH, 465 S Main St, Wilkes-Barre, Monday, with Rev James L Harring of Salem Evangelical United Brethren church officiating.
