Robert L. Ackman, 79, of McDonald, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Canonsburg Hospital. He was born November 9, 1936 in Oakdale, a son of the late Edward W. and Sadie (Lee) Ackman, Sr.

Mr. Ackman was a 1956 graduate of West Allegheny High School and served in the U.S. Army following the Korean War. He began work as an independent steel hauler, but retired in 1998 from Duquesne Light where he had worked in their warehouse for 24 years. Mr. Ackman was a member of the Independent Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the McDonald V.F.W.

He enjoyed watching Nascar races and grocery shopping, but he was happiest when he was able to spend time with his grandchildren.

On September 23, 1967, he married Barbara A. Bain, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Nikki Deems (Rick) Bugay of Bulger, Kelly L. (Valas) Homan and Tara L. (Joe) McClain-Kenbok, both of McDonald; a brother, Edward W. (Norma) Ackman, Jr. of Oakdale; a sister, Ida (late Danny) Stiffler of Imperial; six grandchildren, Melanie (Matt) Senkinc, Zackary Bugay, Devlin Homan, Delaney McClain, Sydney and Jordyn Kenbok; and five great grandchildren, Skye Sabatasse, Mattox, Striker and Macyn Senkinc, and Dixie Bugay.

Deceased are a grandson, Seth Bugay; a great grandson Maverick Senkinc; and a son-in-law, Scott McClain.

Friends will be received from 1-3 and from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Nation Funeral Home, Inc., 220 E. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Burial will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Seth Bugay Scholarship Fund, Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union, 100 Bayer Rd., Bldg. 6, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
