BIDDEFORD - Alphee J Richard, 88, of Biddeford, died Saturday at his home surrounded by family. He was born February 27, 1919, in Biddeford, a son of Philias J and Laura Lemieux Richard. He was educated in Biddeford schools. He served with the US Marine Corps in the Western Pacific Islands during World War II. On January 15, 1949, he married Aline Lamirande in Biddeford. He was employed as a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years, and received numerous awards for his work. He retired in 1973, due to disability. He was a devout member of St Andre's Church. He was also a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 489 in Biddeford. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Laurette Cook, Beatrice Sweet and Eva Samson. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Aline Richard of Biddeford; four daughters, Patricia Perry and her husband, Frank of Saco, Connie Copp and her husband, Richard, of Lebanon and Diane Miliken and her husgand, Richard of Canaan, CT; three sons, Michael Richard and his wife, Bonnie of Biddeford, Larry Richard and his wife, Cheryl of Bradenton, FL and Steven Richard and his wife, Shelley of Arundel; one godchild, Donna Groat of Lyman; one brother, Maurice Richard of Venice, FL; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
