Shirley Yvonne Mathis, age 80, of Whitehouse, Texas, born October 30, 1935 in Pocahontas, Arkansas went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at East Texas Hospice. Memorial services will be 11 AM Friday at Broadway Church of Christ, with Bro. Phil Hancock officiating.
Shirley was a long-time resident of East Texas. She retired from Pioneer Telephone Company. Shirley was a devoted and faithful member of Broadway Church of Christ. Her quiet vivacious charm gathered her many friends, whom she loved like family.
Survivors include Kenneth Mathis of Troup, sister Sallie Davis & Mike Davis of Albuquerque NM, sister Linda Penn of Memphis, TN, son Rodney & Linn Mathis of Troup, daughter Terri Mathis of Whitehouse, step-son Michael Mathis of Portland, Oregon, grandson Jeremy Smith & Andrea Deegan-Smith of Statesville, NC, granddaughter Diane & Johnny of Goose Creek, SC, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
