Mrs. Sol Brox Died Jan. 29th
On Friday, Jan. 29, less than a month after she and Mr. Brox celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage, Mrs. Sol Brox passed away after an illness with influenza and pneumonia. She was 69 years old. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2:00 pm Sunday, Rev. Mearl C. Smith conducting, and interment was in the Ord Cemetery.
Mrs. Lucinda Brox was born in Rock City, Ill., on June 26, 1867 and grew to womanhood there, coming to Atkinson, Nebr., in the spring of 1884 because it was felt the change might benefit her health, which was never robust. Two years later, on Dec. 8, 1886, she was married to Sol Brox and they made the Atkinson neighborhood their home until 1892, when they moved to Valley county. This has since been their home and for the past 25 years they occupied a farm just across the river from Ord.
Mrs. Brox is mourned by her husband, one son, A.R. Brox, three brothers, William and Walter Koller, of Omaha, Almond Koller, of Broadhead, Wis., and two grandchildren, also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In 1898 she was converted and joined the Methodist church of Ord, remaining a faithful member until her death. Being of a frail nature and never having the best of health, Mrs. Brox was never able to take a leading part in community affairs but always enjoyed in a quiet way doing what she could.
On Dec. 8 she and Mr. Brox observed their 50th wedding anniversary, an event to which she had looked forward with pleasure, by having a large number of relatives and old friends together in the Brox home near Ord.
