Kermit Meyer Dies at Age 81

Funeral services for Kermit Meyer were held Sat., Jan. 15,
1994 at the Elim Lutheran Church, Swaburg. He died Jan. 12 at the Oakland Heights Nursing Home at the age of 81.

The Rev. Mark Eldal officiated at the service. Trica Van
Roekel and Amy Meyer sang "Children of the Heavenly Father". Organist was Edna Bergquist.

Pallbearers were David Meyer, Marvin Plessing, Irvin Stover, Kenneth Pearson, Charles Landholm and Homer Uehling. Burial was at the Elim Lutheran Church Cemetery. Warne-Johnson Funeral Home in Uehling was in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 19, 1912 at Oakland to B. J. and Feieda
(Kindschuh) Meyer. He graduated from Uehling High school in 1928.

He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church at Swaburg. He had served on the church board, the Uehling Farmers Co-op board, and Village of Uehling board and was a member of the Uehling Lions Club.

Kermit and Grace Johnson were married Nov. 10, 1936 at the
Elim Lutheran Church. He farmed east of Uehling from 1934 to 1983. They moved to Uehling in 1977 and he retired from farming in 1983. He was a salesman for Lutheran brotherhood and Farm Bureau Insurance.

Survivors include his wife, Grace of Uehling: two sons, John of Fairfield, IA and Harold of Prior Lake, MN; three sisters, Mildred Baker and Eloise Moseman of Oakland and Ruth Carlson of Yakima, Wash.; four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Roger. The family suggest memorials to the Uehling Rescue Squad or Elim Church.
