Funeral Services were held from the First Baptist Church in Electra at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30 with Dr. Billy Burke, officiating. Interment was in New Electra Cemetery under the direction of Totten-Day Funeral Home.
He was born December 11, 1908 in Leo, Texas to Harry and Callie Akin. He had lived in Electra most of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Electra.
Survivors include three sons, Chuffie Akin of San Bernardino, California; W.R. "Shorty" Akin of Winchester, California and Leon "Hoppy" Akin of Hemet, California; four brothers, Lois Akin of Hope, Arkansas, Roy of Denver City, Texas; Ray of Gainesville, Texas and Wixie of Michigan; One sister, Virgie Fennell of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Troy Gilbert, Jimmy Thompson, Jerry Whitecotton, CO. Whitman, B.J. Byrd and Owen Irby._
